Police in San Francisco are investigating a fatal shooting that killed a man Thursday night in the city’s Lower Haight neighborhood, authorities said. The shooting was reported around 9:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Rose Street.

I am following up on an email regarding concerns related to the homicide at 427 Rose Alley. The victim was from the neighborhood and as you know he succumbed to his injuries. The case is under investigation with our Homicide Detail, and there are several leads they are following up on. I have increased patrols in the area to attempt to deter any potential retaliation. Please encourage the HVSafe committee members and neighbors to contact the police should they have any information or potential evidence that might be useful.

I wanted to let you know that the family and friends of the victim from the homicide on Rose Alley will be holding a vigil for him tonight starting at 6:00pm. We will have officers from the Northern Station present , along with representatives from The Street Violence Intervention Program, out and in the community. It is our hope that the combined presence will deter any retaliation or further violence.
