We’re sharing our recent correspondence to the BOS regarding the reappointment of Cindy Elias. (See agenda item #15)
We recognize taking a position is often fraught with apprehension, but we believe it’s critical for the health of civic dialogue, advocacy and the right to redress.
Dear Board of Supervisors:
Public Safety has never been more important to San Franciscans. The role of the Police Commissioner should not be taken lightly. Therefore we/HVSafe recommend that the board reconsider not re-appointing Cindy Elias at this time and allow for an open and democratic process. We urge you as a board member to Vote NO on this appointment in order to ensure due process.
Moreover, we hereby advocate that we hear from all candidates and their policy positions between now and April 30th 2023 as to allow the opportunity for an open discussion and debate.
